Getting Out : Seeking Justice
The Price of a Scholar? Gordon Melton and the FCF | from Jules - Wednesday, November 27, 2002 accessed 6604 times The Family Care Foundation's 2000 financial report has an interesting item listed on it. Gordon Melton (a long time apologist for the group) received a donation for his "International Religions Directory Project" in the amount of $10,065.83 from the Family Care Foundation, a charity founded by Family leaders. http://documents.guidestar.org/2000/330/734/2000-330734917-1-9.pdf You can find the link to the FCF 2000 financial document here (PDF document, the item listing the donation to Melton is on page 38) |

It's great to see this, but we are not the folks that need to see this, how do we show this to those still in the Family, who has no idea we're paying Gordon Melton for his favorable comments? | from Nick Tuesday, December 03, 2002 - 11:31 (Agree/Disagree?) Jesus Jules! Where the hell do you find all this good stuff? LOL. Good work. That explains a lot though. I did meet Gordon Melton a few times and even did an “interview” with him once. I must say that I was very impressed with him and he seems to have a good knowledge of what was going on. So I guess these contributions to his organization were the primary reason for his favorable articles to us??? Money makes the world go around! (reply to this comment)

Thanks for the link Jules---It just goes to show that TF is learning to play in the league with the big boys and becoming more savay---of course they still have to learn to cover their tracks better. I'll make sure to pass this on to all TF's I know who tout his work as objective. (reply to this comment)
| from Nan Friday, November 29, 2002 - 22:50 (Agree/Disagree?) Wow, it used to be only 30 pieces of silver. It's gone up. Damn economy! My only question is does that figure include sexual favors or were they donated? (reply to this comment)
| | | From Anthony Monday, December 02, 2002, 10:58 (Agree/Disagree?) Since the subject is out, I want to know more about the "tail", whether or not it was teenage, I want to find out if anyone knows for sure that he was getting some from family women. I did live in a home where he was a frequent visitor and I do have my suspicions, however, I cannot make an accusation without 100% proof. If it's true that he was having sex with COG women, it would prove, contrary to their claims, that FFing still went on after 1987. Regards, Anthony(reply to this comment) |
| | From PompousJohn Monday, December 02, 2002, 13:24 (Agree/Disagree?) FFing Definitely went on after 1987, but the only situations I have knowlege of (for the record no, I cannot prove it) were limited to existing "fish" who had been accustomed to having sex with their COG mistresses in the past and may withdraw their support if said mistresses stopped putting out. In the one situation I am familiar with the details of, the girl was eventually asked to choose whether to continue having sex with this man at the expense of being barred from sex with current members or vice versa, and she chose to cut the "Fish" off so she could remain sexually active in the group. I can't remember what year this was but I think it was the same year as the Milly Vanilli scandal, definitely much later than '87.(reply to this comment) |
