Getting Out : Leaving
Help | from Beets - Saturday, July 30, 2005 accessed 1119 times I was approached today by a friend, who is aware of my childhood, for help. Two very close friends of his recently joined a cult and are now in South Africa. He asked me for advice and all I could think to tell him was to hope that they don't have children. This would not have helped him at all so instead of voicing this thought I thought that I would post this and see if anyone had any advice that would be a little more helpful. These guys are in the age of majority so they are perfectly, and legally free to do this and their parents are doing everything in their power to get them back which could mean nothing. I too know these individuals and would very much like to see them back. I know that there is not much anyone can do but I thought that maybe someone out there would at least have some advice. Thanks, Sarita |

| From .......... Tuesday, August 02, 2005, 07:16 (Agree/Disagree?) Is it a known cult? Research, research, research! Find out everything you can about the cult (online or any way possible) and print everything out. Get all the information together (the more information, the better!) and send them a nice little letter in the mail with the information (don’t send your only copies, just in case their mail in censored, you may have to send it several times in order for them to receive it.). My main point is that you have to try and get the information to them before they get brainwashed, while they still have mind of their own. Once they receive it and read it all, it’s up to them really. You can’t force someone to do something, but you can educate them about it and hope they make the right decision. And at least you will be able to sit calmly and know that you tried. (reply to this comment) |
