from Samuel Monday, July 05, 2004 - 19:42 (Agree/Disagree?) By the way, I have been to this town Intercourse, Pennsylvania. It was actually quite interesting. However, this was when we were at a five day fellowship in Laurel, Maryland (we drove to PA for a day) in 1996. Peter Amsterdam showed up, as did Faithy. Peter did what he called a foot-washing ceremony. Basically he picked two people that had been hurt by The Family, and to "prove" that they were truly "sorry" for all the things that had happened he washed their feet. They were both too old too have been children abused in The Family. Come to think of it now, I'm wondering if he was just doing this because he had some weird foot fetish or something. His speech talked about how we are sorry for the abuses of the past and we are working on changing that but it would take time- just as it takes time for a large ship to change direction. To that I say- BULLSHIP! However, Intercourse was a nice Amish city. You go there and feel like you're stuck in a time warp- but in a good way. (reply to this comment)
